Frequently Asked Questions

Straightforward answers to common questions about hiring tools and plant from us.

Do I need an account to hire from you?

No. We hire to both trade and private customers. On your first hire we require two forms of ID: one must be a photocard driving licence or passport, and the other a recent utility bill. If you do not have a credit account, the hire charge is payable up front and a deposit may be required on higher-value equipment.

If I hire something for one day, does it have to be back the same day?

No. A one-day hire is 24 hours and a one-week hire is 7 days.

Do I need a licence or professional qualification to hire a mini digger?

We do not require formal qualifications simply to hire our equipment and our team can provide basic familiarisation with the controls. It remains the hirer’s responsibility to make sure the operator is competent and that any formal training or certification required for the site or work is in place.

Do you deliver?

Yes. We offer delivery and collection across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire, subject to availability and location. Contact your nearest depot for a delivery price, or use our online booking page where delivery options are available for selected plant.

Can DIY and private customers hire equipment?

Yes. We hire to trade and DIY customers. If you are unsure what equipment you need, contact us and we can help you choose a suitable machine or tool.

When I off-hire equipment, who is responsible for it before collection?

The customer remains responsible for the safe keeping of the equipment for 24 hours after the off-hire time and date. Equipment awaiting collection should therefore be left secure and in a safe location.

Do you charge for cleaning equipment?

We may charge where equipment is returned excessively dirty. We understand that plant gets muddy in normal use; we simply ask customers to make a reasonable effort to return equipment as clean as practical.

Do I have to refill machines with fuel before off-hiring?

Diesel plant is normally supplied with a full tank. If it is not refilled before off-hire, the fuel used will be charged at our current rate. Petrol equipment may be supplied with varying amounts of fuel and does not normally need to be returned full.

Can I collect from any depot?

Our hire fleet operates from Semley and Frome. We also deliver into Evercreech, Shepton Mallet and the wider central Somerset area from Frome. Availability varies by depot, so contact us or check when booking to confirm collection or delivery options.

Can I book online?

Yes. Selected plant can be booked through our online booking page, where you can choose the machine, hire dates and available collection or delivery options.

What happens if the equipment breaks down?

Stop using the equipment if continuing could cause damage or create a safety risk, then contact your nearest depot. We will help diagnose the problem and arrange the appropriate support, repair or replacement where required.

Can you advise me which machine I need?

Yes. Tell us what job you are doing, the access available and any relevant dimensions or ground conditions. Our team can help you choose suitable equipment before you hire.
